Manual vs. Electric Toothbrush

All professionally qualified dentists in Palm Beach, as well as dentists and dental hygienists across the whole country, are more than happy to give good advice when it comes to looking after your teeth properly.

One of the things that may crop up is the subject of toothbrushes. One thing to consider when choosing a toothbrush is whether or not to go for a manual brush or an electric one. There are pros and cons of both.

First of all a manual brush is the most inexpensive option. If it’s a budget that you need to stick to, then a manual brush may be your best choice. They are not bulky like electric brushes (i.e. are easy to travel with) and most come with rubber grips on the handle to help keep it in your hand. Some even come with a tongue scraper (usually a rough surface on the back of the toothbrush’s head) to give a thorough clean of the mouth.

However, an electric can be just as beneficial. For example: for those who suffer from arthritis or have limited mobility they may find an electric toothbrush much more useful. Some electric ones also come with a timer to let you know when two minutes are up (which is the recommended length of a time a person should brush).

Considering these, and what your dentist may tell you (after all, they’re the professionals who have passed a dental course and earned a certificate), it all boils down to personal choice; as well as which type of brush you think you will use.

But whichever brush you choose it is still important to maintain good oral hygiene so your teeth are healthy and there is less chance of dental jobs and treatment needing to be carried out.
