Cosmetic Nose Surgery

There exists a subculture in the world that continually undergoes body augmentation and cosmetic surgery. Some consider this a type of mental illness and others see it as a means of helping to perfect their physical form. Either way the most cited initial plastic surgery for many of the people that choose this route is cosmetic nose surgery. Most individuals do not realize just what is involved in the process, however. Here are a few tidbits of information so that those who are interested might acquire a greater understanding of the overall process.

What Happens During Cosmetic Nose Surgery?

Pre-surgery there will be a great deal of discussion between the chosen doctor and the patient. However, before this discussion the surgeon must be chosen. Highly recommended doctors with a minimum of five years of practical medical experience and at least two years as a plastic surgeon should be the only options for most people. Any surgeon with less experience greatly increases the risk revision surgeries or other negative consequences.

After the doctor is chosen and the direction the surgery will take is decided the patient will come into the surgical room and be given a local or general anesthetic based on the decision between them and the surgeon. After this one of two types of procedure will occur. These procedures are the closed and open type respectively. The closed rhinoplasty surgery procedure is performed without cutting the external skin and the open version requires that the columnella be cut and the skin of the nose lifted so that the surgeon can operate.

Once the procedure is performed there will be a period of waiting and lots of pain medication to take. After a week to a month the bandages come off to allow the results to be shown. This is the time when the possibility of revision surgery might come up.
